New Jersey Society of CPAs’ Ralph Albert Thomas and Rutgers Bloustein Local Government Research Center’s Marc Pfeiffer to Speak on NJTV’s Property Tax Panel

ROSELAND, N.J. — Ralph Albert Thomas, CPA (DC), CGMA, CEO and executive director of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA), and Marc Pfeiffer, assistant director of the Bloustein Local Government Research Center at Rutgers University, are to be panelists on NJTV’s Know Jersey: Finances on Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2019 at noon. NJTV business correspondent Rhonda Schaffler will host the show, which will air on NJTV’s Facebook and YouTube pages.

The panel is part of a three-part series hosted by NJTV’s Rhonda Schaffler, with the first session delving into property taxes, what goes into the bill and where the money is allocated. Viewers can submit property tax questions directly to the panelists in advance or live via Facebook or YouTube. NJCPA’s new property tax booklet, New Jersey Homeowner’s Guide to Property Taxes, will be discussed. More information about the guide can be found at njpropertytaxguide.com.

The second session on Feb. 20 will cover the impact of property taxes on the New Jersey real estate market with representatives from the housing market, while the third session on Feb. 27 will cover tax law changes and state and local tax (SALT) deductions with panelists Kenneth Bagner, CPA, MST, a partner at Sobel & Co. LLC, and Karen Artasanchez, CPA, MST, a shareholder at WilkinGuttenplan — both NJCPA members. These sessions will also be shown at noon on NJTV’s Facebook and YouTube pages.

“With New Jersey’s high property taxes, it’s important to inform the public about where our tax dollars go and to discuss how they are calculated,” said NJCPA’s Thomas. “Shows like this help to keep the topic of taxes at the forefront of residents’ and business owners’ minds.”
