New Jersey State AFL-CIO commends our congressional delegation for attaining prestigious positions
Garden State working families have a greater voice in Washington since the 117th Congress convened, with the members of the New Jersey congressional delegation gaining or maintaining key leadership roles on important and influential committees.
The New Jersey State AFL-CIO commends our senators and representatives for their distinguished record of pro-labor legislation and constituent service, and looks forward to working with them as they act to add good union jobs, pass the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, reinforce workplace health and safety regulations, and rebuild an economy that works for every American.
Rep. Frank Pallone Jr., D-6th District, remains chairman of the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee, where he advocates for affordable health care, food and drug safety, consumer protection and the internet.
Rep. Bill Pascrell Jr., D-11th District, holds powerful people accountable to working families as the chairman of the Oversight Subcommittee of the Ways and Means Committee.
Transportation and transportation-related construction and maintenance jobs will be guided by Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J., who is in line to lead the subcommittee that oversees mass transit. He and Rep. Donald Payne Jr., D-10th District – the new chair of the House Transportation and Infrastructure railroad subcommittee – will bring New Jersey advocacy to the Gateway railroad tunnel and Portal Bridge projects. Reps. Tom Malinowski, D-7th District, and Albio Sires, D-8th District, are on Payne’s subcommittee.
Rep. Donald Norcross, D-1st District, our IBEW brother, brings jobs to military bases in New Jersey as chair of the Armed Services Subcommittee on Tactical Air and Land Forces.
The New Jersey State AFL-CIO thanks and congratulates our senators and representatives. Their committee assignments are, in district order:
