New Jersey State Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association Endorses Rebecca Bennett for Congress

SOMERVILLE, NJ — Today, the New Jersey State Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association (NJFMBA) announced <https://us.list-manage.com/dhQxWzH8z2_?e=6bf49449f3&c2id=1c4ce9f5d4d6098e01bd83dca3215927> that they will be endorsing Rebecca Bennett for Congress in the Seventh Congressional District. This endorsement represents a flip from the group’s prior endorsements of Congressman Tom Kean Jr. in 2020 and 2024. Union leadership cited Rebecca’s commitment to supporting first responders and her willingness to show up and have tough conversations as the reasoning behind the endorsement.
“I am honored to earn the endorsement of the NJFMBA. Each and every day, thousands of firefighters, EMTs, and dispatchers show up to work to put their lives on the line to keep us safe. It’s our responsibility to ensure that our first responders have the tools they need to be safe on the job and have the guarantee of a secure retirement at the end of their service. I look forward to working with the NJFMBA to do exactly that in Congress,” said Rebecca Bennett.
“These endorsements are our way of saluting the elected officials and candidates that have put the work in. They have cast votes, spoken out, and been visible when it matters most,” said NJFMBA President Eddie Donnelly. “Politics is one of the topics that so many people avoid talking about. While we don’t always agree and sometimes voices are raised, we are always going to be heard, and the voices of our members will always come first. To get the endorsement of the NJFMBA you have to be willing to have the hard conversations. That’s why we’re proud to endorse Rebecca Bennett.”
Congressman Tom Kean Jr. was the only sitting member <https://us.list-manage.com/BE5Cdlxuie3?e=6bf49449f3&c2id=1c4ce9f5d4d6098e01bd83dca3215927> of the House of Representatives, Democrat or Republican, from New Jersey to not receive the group’s endorsement.
