NJ-10 students to host Town Hall for Our Lives Saturday, April 7th
Congressman Donald Payne Jr., other officials, to take questions on gun violence and safer schools and hear from students and community
NEWARK, N.J. – The SOMA Action Student Leadership Committee has organized in partnership with Essex County College Town Hall for Our Lives on Saturday, April 7, 5 to 6:30 p.m. The program one of many across the nation, will be held in Smith Hall on the College’s Newark campus. Congressman Donald Payne, Jr., Assemblywoman Mila Jasey and Dr. Akil Khalfani, director of the Essex Co. College Africana Institute, are among those including other NJ-10 elected officials and community leaders who will take questions and speak at the session.
The Town Hall is a continuation of last month’s March for Our Lives rallies across the country. The session will focus on sensible gun reform and ending gun violence in schools and communities, at a time when Congress is in recess. The Town Hall For Our Lives is also co-sponsored by SOMA Action, Moms Demand Action and Essex Co. College.
