NJ High School Democrats to Join Gun Control Rally

The New Jersey Statehouse and Capitol Building In Trenton

TRENTON, NJ — August 13, 2019 — The New Jersey High School Democrats (NJHSD) have announced that they will take part in Everytown for Gun Safety’s Senate Recess Rally on Sunday August 18th in Trenton. The goal of Trenton’s rally and its counterparts nationwide is to pressure Senate Majority Leader McConnell to call back the U.S. Senate from its August recess in order to vote on gun control legislation, including the bipartisan house-passed bill HR8. The NJHSD will join Everytown for Gun Safety and its affiliated organizations, Moms Demand Action, and Students Demand Action, at this event. “Senate Republicans’ longstanding strategy of obstruction is costing American lives. As high school students, every safety drill reinforces the idea that our school could be the next site of a tragedy.” Said NJHSD’s Political Director, Lexi Abrams.
