NJ League of Conservation Voters Endorses Birkner and Falotico in LD-39

EMERSON, NJ – Westwood Mayor John Birkner Jr. and Emerson Council President Gerald Falotico announced today that they have received the endorsement of the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters (NJLCV), the leading political voice for the environment in New Jersey, in their campaign for Assembly in New Jersey’s 39th Legislative District.

“We are excited to announce the third round of our 2019 endorsements for Assembly,” said Ed PotosnakExecutive Director of New Jersey LCV. “These endorsees are environmentally trustworthy candidates who can be counted on to fight for healthy communities, good local jobs in the clean energy economy, and to preserve New Jersey’s natural resources and heritage.”

Birkner and Falotico released the following joint statement:

“We are thrilled to have earned the endorsement of the New Jersey League of Conservation Voters in our campaign for Assembly.  This endorsement further illustrates the clear choice facing voters this November. Our opponents, Assemblymembers Auth and Schepisi, have some of the worst records on environmental protection issues in the entire state. Their votes against renewable energy and electric vehicle innovation, and against limits on greenhouse gas emissions in New Jersey represent not only a failure to protect our children and grandchildren from the worst effects of air pollution and climate change, but also a failure to support the development of good jobs in important emerging industries.”

Emerson Council President Gerald Falotico added, “As a father of three, I believe we all have a profound responsibility to care for the environment that our children and grandchildren will inherit.  That’s why I am both proud and grateful to accept the endorsement of New Jersey LCV. I look forward to supporting policies in the Assembly that will both safeguard our environment and help make New Jersey a leader in innovation and jobs creation in emerging sectors like renewable energy and energy efficiency.”

John Birkner said, “As Mayor of Westwood some of my proudest achievements have been in the area of environmental protection – turning an old landfill into a park, replacing a sewer line that was leaking into our drinking water supply, mitigating flooding, and helping create an innovative cooking oil to bio-diesel recycling program. One of the reasons I’m running for Assembly is I believe the 39th district deserves better than our current Assembly members, who have consistently voted against environmental protections and renewable energy. I gratefully and proudly accept the endorsement of New Jersey LCV and look forward to working in the Assembly to build a brighter, more sustainable future for our citizens, our workforce, and most of all, our children and grandchildren.”
