NJ Young Americans for Liberty State Chair Supports Call for Eminent Domain Debate in Hudson County

Hudson County – Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) Hudson County, the county chapter of the leading freedom focused non-profit educating for liberty, endorses the call by freedom advocate Joshua Sotomayor Einstein, for Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla to debate him regarding the expropriation of the ferry service’s land along Hoboken’s water front. Mayor Bhalla has remained silent on the issue of dialoguing with the people of Hoboken since Einstein made public his invitation to debate.

Young Americans for Liberty New Jersey State Chair, James Pillion, stated that “not only does the ferry serve tens of thousands of Northern New Jersey commuters making this a critical mass transit issue, but the fact remains that if a municipality can take away the property of a business which employs hundreds of people, imagine what it can do to the little guy.” He continued, “indeed, we have seen time and time again the abuse of eminent domain at the expense of home owners and taxpayers as we are also unfortunately seeing unfold in Jersey City in the Center St neighborhood.”

Herminio Mendoza, a Jersey City community leader said that “whether in Jersey City, Hoboken, or elsewhere, eminent domain is used by the out of touch ruling class to pursue their wants and help their allied special interests at the expense of people’s basic rights.” Mendoza continued, “as a small business owner and a long-time resident of Hudson County, I find it terrifying that elected “leaders” are trying to steal the property of the ferry business and home owners in Hoboken and Jersey City respectively.”
