NJ5 Candidate Arati Kreibich Beats First Fundraising Goal, Raises Over $100K in 2 Months
Glen Rock, N.J., Oct. 2 – Arati Kreibich, a Democratic candidate for New Jersey’s 5th district House seat, has exceeded her first fundraising goal, breaking the $100,000 mark in just two months. Kreibich, a neuroscientist and a councilmember in Glen Rock, N.J., is waging a grassroots-powered primary challenge against an incumbent nicknamed by the press as “the Human Fundraising Machine.”
Kreibich said she is proud that more than 1,200 people have contributed to her campaign, mostly donors providing small-dollar amounts, not corporate-backed PACs that fill the war chests of other candidates.
“Our goal has always been to build this campaign with grassroots support and that’s exactly what we’re doing,” said Kreibich, who supports Medicare for All and the Green New Deal. “I will always put the needs of the people in my district first and I can do that because I’m not beholden to corporate interests.”
The money the Kreibich campaign raised in the last quarter will fund field offices, printed materials and advertisements to help the campaign reach as many voters as possible. The campaign also plans to add more volunteers. For information on volunteering for the Arati for Congress campaign, visit aratiforcongress.com.
Kreibich said she’s deeply grateful for the outpouring of support she’s received so far.
“I know this is a marathon, not a sprint,” she said, “but this is an incredible start and clearly, our message of big, bold, necessary change resonates. I know that with help from people who believe in what we’re fighting for, we will win!”
