NJBIA Lauds Signing of Law Bringing Flexibility to NJ Economic Incentive Requirements
NJBIA President and CEO Michele Siekerka issued the following statement regarding the signing of bill A-4929/S-3379 into law today by Gov. Phil Murphy.

The legislation, strongly supported by NJBIA, provides greater flexibility to in-person worker requirements necessary for participating businesses to receive awards from legacy incentive programs with the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, based on more employees working remotely.

“NJBIA thanks the sponsors and supporters of this legislation and Governor Murphy for signing it into law expeditiously.

“At a time when far more employees are working remotely, this bill brings much-needed flexibility to employers receiving these awards under conditions made prior to the pandemic. They are still creating the jobs they committed to and generating important tax revenue for our state. The only thing that has changed is how some of their employees are performing their duties.

“This law also fairly retains certain criteria for the state to allow for this flexibility of employers. Remote work is here to stay, but to what extent remains to be seen. We are grateful for this commonsense approach in dynamic times.”
