NJCPA to Award More Than $350,000 in Scholarships
to New Jersey Students
ROSELAND, N.J. – The New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA) will award more than $350,000 in scholarships to New Jersey high school seniors and college students.
Four-year awards of $7,000 will be presented to 16 high school seniors planning to major in accounting. One-year awards of $6,000 will be presented to 37 college accounting students entering their senior year or a graduate program. In addition, the NJCPA’s Atlantic/Cape May, Bergen and Mercer chapters will present various amounts of awards to local students. The NJCPA also works with the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and the National Association of Black Accountants-Northern New Jersey (NABA-NNJ) to award Minority Scholarships.
“The awards ceremony is a great opportunity to give back to the next generation and foster an interest in accounting. Informing students about the many doors that can open for CPAs is important,” said Ralph Albert Thomas, CPA (DC), CGMA, CEO and executive director at NJCPA. “As always, we thank the generosity of our members for making such an event possible.”
The 59th Annual Scholarship Award Ceremony will be held Tuesday, April 30, at the Pines Manor in Edison at 7:30 p.m. Scholarship recipients will be able to meet practicing CPAs and representatives from many of the state’s leading accounting firms.
The NJCPA will begin accepting applications for its 2020 scholarship program in the fall. For more information on the NJCPA’s scholarship programs, visit njcpa.org/scholarships.
