ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — The New Jersey Democratic State Committee Annual Conference drew a record crowd of over 2,500 people today in Atlantic City. The event was hosted by Chairman John Currie and Vice Chair Peg Schaffer and was headlined by state and national Democratic Party leaders including Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, Governor Phil Murphy, Senator Cory Booker and Senator Bob Menendez, among many other dignitaries.

“Last year’s conference was a huge success for the New Jersey Democratic Party, and this year’s event was even better,” said Governor Phil Murphy. “I would like to thank Speaker Pelosi for her kind words and her willingness to take time out to recognize the progress we are making as a party and a state, and it was absolutely inspiring to be with her during this incredibly consequential time in our nation’s history.”

The Conference began Thursday night with a Welcome Reception headlined by Governor Murphy, and continued Friday morning with a full slate of events highlighted by the party’s annual Faith in the Democratic Party Breakfast, as well as numerous training events building on the party’s record of helping hundreds of new candidates and operatives prepare to run successful campaigns.

“Our NJDSC conference was full of the kind of energy and passion we need to continue winning elections this November from the State Assembly to county and local offices,” said NJDSC Chairman John Currie. “I would like to give a special thanks to the most powerful woman in the history of our country, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, for joining us at this year’s conference. Her unwavering strength and progressive leadership has inspired people from all over our country and certainly in our New Jersey Democratic Party.”

The annual event serves as an opportunity for grassroots activists and party leaders to unite together as they make their push towards the important November election. Last year’s conference served as a precursor to a historic wave election which resulted in the New Jersey Demoratic Party sending an 11-1 Democratic congressional delegation to the House of Representatives for the first time ever, as well as re-electing Senator Menendez and winning key races throughout the state.
