NJEA supports The Turnout Project to get Sherrill voters to the polls

With voting underway in New Jersey’s closely watched gubernatorial election, NJEA has stepped up to support a statewide canvass project to get out the vote for Mikie Sherrill. The six-figure investment in the Turnout Project will ensure an active statewide canvass through Election Day.

The majority of New Jerseyans are clear that they want to see their next Governor address issues of affordability. They also want a governor who will protect our state from the whims of the current federal administration that is threatening everything from public school funding to the critical Gateway Tunnel project. Mikie Sherrill is the clear choice to stand up to President Trump and invest in New Jersey’s working families.

NJEA President Steve Beatty emphasized the importance of engaging directly with voters in the final days of the election. “In the end, elections come down to turnout. After all the ads and events, the speeches and rallies, voters get to choose. We know Mikie Sherrill has the momentum and is on the right side of the issues, starting with making New Jersey more affordable for hardworking people like our members and the families we serve. NJEA is proud to support the critical work of turning out the vote for her by investing in the Turnout Project because we are proud to do our part, in solidarity with other unions, to stand up for all working families in New Jersey.”

Launched last week, The Turnout Project has knocked on over 45,000 doors in 8 counties, and already had conversations with nearly 10,000 voters. The Turnout Project will continue knocking on doors across the state with local teams of New Jersey residents from the areas in which they are canvassing. They can be recognized by the Sherrill for Governor t-shirts they are wearing, and they will have lawn signs available for supporters.
