TRENTON — Ed Donnelly, President of the New Jersey State Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association (“NJFMBA”), and Senate President Steve Sweeney released the following joint statement today regarding the NJFMBA’s endorsement of the Senate President for re-election to the New Jersey Senate:
“As the largest labor union representing firefighters, EMTs and dispatchers, the New Jersey Firefighters Mutual Benevolent Association endorses Steve Sweeney in his bid for re-election to the New Jersey Senate.”
“For over 120 years, NJFMBA has championed the rights and causes of its members and as a fellow brother in labor, Steve knows these issues and has been a strong voice for labor in the Senate. As the Sponsor of legislation to protect our pensions, fighting to secure proper staffing and equipment for our communities and preserving our ability to negotiate fair and equitable compensation as well as making New Jersey safer and affordable for families, Senator Sweeney understands what New Jersey families need.”
“I am proud to have the endorsement of the men and women of the NJFMBA. Each day they stand ready to aid all residents of New Jersey at their most vulnerable times. They deserve our thanks and I will honor their commitment each day I serve in the Senate,” said Sweeney.
