NJGCA is now NJEMG

NJGCA Announces Transition to New Jersey Energy Marketers Group, Expands Mission and Membership
The New Jersey Gasoline, Convenience Store, and Automotive Association (NJGCA) today announced that it has formally transitioned to a new name, the New Jersey Energy Marketers Group (NJEMG), reflecting a strategic evolution of the organization and an expanded approach to representing New Jersey’s motor fuel, energy, convenience store, and automotive repair industries.
The decision follows months of discussion and planning by the association’s Board of Directors and marks the next chapter in an organization that has represented New Jersey’s motorist-serving businesses since 1937.
“This is an intentional evolution of NJGCA” said Eric Blomgren, Executive Director of NJEMG. “Over our 89-year history, the association has changed names several times to reflect the realities of the marketplace. Transitioning from NJGCA to the New Jersey Energy Marketers Group better aligns our identity with today’s industry while preserving our core mission of advocacy, education, and member service. The industries we represent are changing, and our organization is built to meet that future.”
Blomgren added that the transition to NJEMG includes an expansion of membership to more fully represent the supply chain, including fuel distributors and other industry suppliers as Regular Members. “By broadening our base, we strengthen our collective voice,” he said. “NJEMG will continue to provide strong legislative advocacy, regulatory engagement, timely industry information, and collaborative resources that support innovation, fairness, and clarity in an increasingly complex energy and retail environment.”
He added that NJEMG will remain an active resource for policymakers and regulators. “We are here to help decision-makers understand how laws and regulations affect small businesses, their employees, and consumers across New Jersey,” Blomgren said.
“Our association has always been at its best when the industry is united,” said Ebbie Ashabi, President of NJEMG. “This transition from NJGCA to NJEMG allows us to better reflect the businesses we already represent and those that will shape the industry in the years ahead. With thousands of locations statewide and tens of thousands of employees, our members are essential to New Jersey’s economy and local communities, and they deserve strong, modern representation.”
Today, NJEMG represents industries encompassing more than 6,500 locations statewide, including approximately 2,300 gas stations, collectively selling 4.5 billion gallons of motor fuel annually and employing more than 45,000 people with an annual payroll exceeding $1.5 billion. The majority of member businesses remain independent or franchisee-owned small businesses with fewer than ten employees.
NJEMG continues as a nonprofit trade association, organized exclusively to serve its dues-paying members and advance the interests of businesses that serve the New Jersey motorist, including motor fuel retailers, convenience stores, and automotive repair shops.
