NJRC to Host Veterans Outreach Event in Jersey City on July 7

JERSEY CITY, NJ — The New Jersey Reentry Corporation (NJRC), in collaboration with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2294, will host a Veterans Outreach Event on Monday, July 7, 2025, from 11 AM to 2 PM at 98 Oak Street, Jersey City, NJ 07304.

This event is part of NJRC’s Veterans Justice Outreach Initiative, which connects veterans, regardless of discharge status, with essential services to support successful Reentry and long-term stability. The initiative focuses on court-involved veterans and those transitioning from incarceration, addiction treatment, or homelessness.

Available services at the event will include:

  • Emergency and at-risk housing assistance
  • Addiction detox and treatment
  • Mental health and medical services
  • Medicaid, SNAP, and general assistance enrollment
  • DD214 applications and ID services
  • Employment training and job placement
  • Case management and discharge upgrades
  • Coordination of state and VA benefits

Nearly one in three incarcerated veterans struggles with mental health challenges such as PTSD, TBI, anxiety, or depression. NJRC takes a hands-on, comprehensive, and compassionate approach, linking veterans to the care they need, from behavioral health and addiction treatment to safe housing, food security through NJRC’s Veterans Food Pantry in Carteret, and ongoing case management support.

“Far too many of our veterans return home only to struggle with homelessness, addiction, or incarceration,” stated Jim McGreevey, Executive Director, NJRC. “This event will work towards providing the critical practical support our veterans have earned, including medical care, housing, job training, and a pathway forward. Thank you, particularly to NJRC Director of Veterans Services Sharon McGreevey, former Commander and Judge Advocate Derek L. Farthing (VFW NJ District 3), and all veteran partners for providing these services.”

Veterans in need of support are encouraged to attend. For more information, please contact Sharon McGreevey at 201-252-7641.
