NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS CREATE NEW ANIMATION VIDEO TO EDUCATE VOTERS ABOUT WAYS TO VOTE IN NEW JERSEY ELECTIONS
TRENTON, NJ – New Jersey League of Conservation Voters Education Fund and a diverse group of non-profit organizations have created an animated video to educate New Jersey voters about the various ways they can cast their ballots for the upcoming Nov. 2 general election.
In response to new voting laws and changes to voting processes, the coalition produced a short non-partisan animated video that clearly outlines how to vote in this year’s election. A Spanish language version is also being distributed.
“The office for President may not be on the ballot this year, but New Jerseyans need to remember that the people who represent us in state and local offices make just as important decisions that impact all of our lives. Voting in state and local elections is the chance for every New Jersey voter to have an opportunity to have a say in how our tax dollars are spent on everything from education and health care to clean energy and housing,” said Joe Hendershot, Field Organizer, New Jersey LCV Education Fund. “We want to make sure everyone knows how to exercise their fundamental right to vote and that they use the new voting options to ensure their voice is heard.”
“The NAACP has led voter engagement campaigns ahead of previous elections, however, with the assault on voting rights we are experiencing today, it creates an urgency for us to take action more than a year before the midterms registering, educating, energizing and mobilizing people to the polls. It is important for us to engage the public on what’s happening with voting rights NOW because our democracy is literally at stake, “said Richard T. Smith, President NAACP New Jersey State Conference and member NAACP National Board of Directors.
“We are thrilled to partner to reach a wide audience with this important nonpartisan voting information,” said Jesse Burns, Executive Director of the League of Women Voters of New Jersey. “New Jersey voters have some great options to cast a ballot this year. Knowing all of the options helps folks make a voting plan that works best for their schedules.”
“The people of New Jersey deserve representatives who work in their best interests. That is why voting is so important. As we work to recover from COVID-19 it is imperative that we are represented by officials who work and fight for the working families of New Jersey,” said Sue Altman, State Director, New Jersey Working Families.
“With early in-person voting available for the first time in New Jersey, it’s easier than ever to cast a ballot in November when the Governor, all state legislators, and local offices are on the ballot,” said Aaron Greene, Associate Counsel, New Jersey Institute for Social Justice. “We’re excited that this new animated video will let New Jerseyans know all the ways they can vote this year when it’s more important than ever to have our voices heard.”
“I know the importance of state and local elections on issues such as clean water, education, health care and the economy,” said Cindy Ehrenclou, Board Chair, New Jersey LCV Education Fund. “With the impacts of climate change directly at our doorstep in New Jersey, we see firsthand how much government decisions matter. This video explains the various ways voters can cast their ballots.”
