Norcross Votes Against GOP Attempt to Cut Medicare, Medicaid

“Republicans either have short-term memories or are being purposefully hypocritical to fool the American people.”

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Donald Norcross (NJ-01) issued the below statement following his vote against the Republican’s hypocritical Balanced Budget Amendment:

“Republicans either have short-term memories or are being purposefully hypocritical to fool the American people. After adding over $1.4 trillion to the federal deficit to give their billionaire backers tax breaks, it is painfully deceptive to now pledge fiscal responsibility.

“Republicans increased taxes for New Jersey families by gutting our state and local tax deductions, and now they’re continuing their heist.

“This new Republican ploy would subject Medicare and Medicaid to deep cuts, stealing retirement security away from millions of hardworking Americans. Congress should be raising wages, protecting pensions and investing in our aging infrastructure – not having showboat votes that hurt our seniors and families.”
