NEW YORK—Dozens of New York and New Jersey airport workers plan to attend Thursday’s Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Board Meeting to witness the Board of Commissioners pass a $19 an hour minimum wage at LaGuardia, the John F. Kennedy and Newark Liberty international airports. After the vote, workers plan to rally outside the meeting to celebrate the many ways the raise will change their lives.

If passed, it will create the nation’s highest publicly mandated minimum wage and will deeply impact local communities. The wage increase would support over 2,700 new jobs in the region, increasing sales to local businesses by $465.1 million and creating $33.7 million a year in tax revenue.
