The Old Bridge Democratic Organization is pleased to announce that on March 18, 2019, the Committee held its Convention for screening candidates.

As a result of the candidates screening process and the vote of the County Committee, the Old Bridge Democratic Organization has endorsed David Merwin for Mayor, to run on the Middlesex County Democratic Organization Line.

Furthermore, the Organization has selected via majority vote Council-at-Large candidates June Dungee, Raya Arbiol, and Dennis Maher. The Council-at-Large candidates having been selected by the Committee at the convention on March 18, 2019, will receive the Middlesex County Democratic Organization Line.

The following are short biographies for each of the candidates:

David Merwin

*Current Elected Old Bridge Councilman for the Ward 1 Election District; Past Treasurer for OBMUA; Served on the Old Bridge Planning Board; Served on the Old Bridge Library Board; and Current member New Jersey Planning Officials.
* Laurence Harbor First Aid Squad for over 40 Years having served as Captain, President, Vice President, and Secretary; Numerous awards for being in the top three call makers as a member of LHFAS. Delegate to the New Jersey First Aid Council; Volunteer Firefighter in Laurence Harbor since 1975.
* Former employee of Old Bridge Township as Dispatcher, Special Police Officer, Police Officer, Warrants Officer, Parking Facilities Manager, CDBG Inspector, Code Enforcement Officer, and Housing Inspector.
* Founding member of the Center Safety Barrier Committee for Route 35; Served on the Citizens Advisory Group (CAG) with The United States Environmental Protection Agency on the beachfront Superfund Site.
* Coordinator for The Old Bridge Memorial Day Parade; The Salt Water Day Festival; The Fireworks Extravaganza; ~ for the past 18 years.

June Dungee

*Former Old Bridge City Councilwomen for Ward 3 who was accessible to everyone, listened to the issues and concerns of her constituents, and made appropriate referrals that aided in improving the quality of life for the residents of Old Bridge.
*Old Bridge Housing Authority Member, Old Bridge Cultural Arts Committee Member, and Old Bridge Community Wellness Program Member.
*Will provide and initiate better ways to access solutions for the residents of Old Bridge because “Everyone Deserves to be Heard”.
*Attended and supported housing endeavors as Housing Chair of NAACP in Middlesex County and supported and attended New Jersey Civil Action and other civic and local organizations.
*Proud member of the National Federation of Democratic Women and the League of Women Voters.

Raya Arbiol

*Current Democratic County Committee Old Bridge District 03-03 – able to incorporate training received at Emerge New Jersey June 2018 and Center for Women in Politics – Ready to Run, March 2018
*Professional Consultant with over 10 years of management experience implementing business solutions, image consulting, and professional learning and development programs.
*Leadership and management experience in fast paced working environments enabling the ability to bring honesty, empathy, and accountability to the Citizens of Old Bridge.
*University of Scranton, Master of Business Administration – Operations Management 2017
*United States Navy Hospital Corps School / Hospital Corpsman Training (top of the Class) 2007

Dennis Maher

*Former Councilperson (1996-2007) and Council President (2001-2003);
instrumental in preserving over 1,700 acres of open space and maintaining
zero tax increases for 9 consecutive years.
*As Council President led team to solicit business proposals from 4 local
YMCA’s to manage Old Bridge Community YMCA, including Western Monmouth YMCA which
was eventually selected to manage the Old Bridge YMCA.
*Current and past member in various Township wide civic, community and youth
sports related associations.
*Former AT&T executive 29 years in various progressive leadership roles
including Treasury, Sales and Marketing, Law and Government Affairs,
Mobility and Wired Telecommunication services.
*MBA and B.S. from Seton Hall University; Completed Stern Executive
Management Program at New York University (NYU)
