Pascrell Announces Federal Housing Aid for Little Ferry, Teaneck

Federal investment will increase Bergen County residents’ access to affordable housing

PATERSON, NJ – U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) today applauded the announcement by Governor Phil Murphy that his administration has awarded millions in annual 9% federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credits to housing developments throughout New Jersey. These federal tax credits will support the development of new apartments for New Jersey families, seniors, and residents with special needs. In the Ninth Congressional District, senior facilities in Little Ferry and Teaneck are set to receive the highly competitive tax credits.

“This pandemic has placed unbearable pressure upon the shoulders of all Americans, but especially those in our most vulnerable communities. Now more than ever, the federal government must step in to support Americans in need of adequate housing. Today’s announcement by Governor Murphy is tremendous news for New Jersey residents,” said Rep. Pascrell, a vocal advocate for federal housing assistance to lower-income communities. “These tax credits are a game-changer for our seniors, impoverished families, and those in need of a home. Importantly, they will provide pivotal assistance to our neighbors most in need, including our seniors here in Bergen County. I’m grateful that Governor Murphy has made it a priority to make housing more affordable as we combat COVID-19 together. In Washington, I’ll continue fighting for every federal dollar available that supports New Jerseyans in search of a home. Housing is a right that no American should be without.”

Since the outset of the COVID-19 crisis, Rep. Pascrell has worked to secure millions in federal housing support for New Jersey. He supported the CARES Act in March and later helped pass the HEROES Act, which provides over $100 billion to address housing needs caused by the pandemic.
