Pascrell Backs Continued Russian Exclusion from G7

House of Representatives also condemns attempted murder of leading Putin critic

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) today voted in favor of two bills hitting back at Russian crimes. The House approved H.R. 8259, which will prohibit Russia from rejoining the G7 bloc of leading world nations, and H.Res. 1145, which condemns the poisoning of leading Russian dissident Alexy Navalny by Vladimir Putin’s violent dictatorship. Both pieces of legislation passed unanimously.

“Under Vladimir Putin’s dictatorship, the Russian government has become one of the world’s leading incubators of state violence and the most persistent enemy of American democracy,” said Rep. Pascrell, a longtime critic of Putin’s kakistocracy. “For years Putin has unleashed homicidal violence against his critics. The attempted murder of the brave Mr. Navalny is a disgrace the entire civilized world denounces. Despite the Trump regime’s cozying up to the Russian dictator, Russia must remain a pariah in the international community. The American people stand unequivocally against the inclusion of this Russian government into world’s leadership. Beginning on January 20, I look forward to serving with a presidential administration that recognizes the danger of Putin to American interests and American democracy.”
