WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) denounced concerted attacks by congressional Republicans on Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI).

“By deliberately trafficking in lies, Republicans are themselves ginning up the same bigotry they purport to abhor and raising the likelihood of violence against elected officials. No one should be fooled by these smears. Following Trump’s playbook, my colleagues are using weaponized hate to divide America. I reject their cruel cynicism with every fiber in my body.”

Throughout his career, Rep. Pascrell has consistently denounced bigoted attacks and those who fan the flames of hate. Rep. Pascrell has repeatedly condemned terror attempts against religious and ethnic minority groups and called for increased awareness of domestic terror groups. In 2017, Rep. Pascrell highlighted how Donald Trump’s rhetoric was emboldening white supremacist terror groups. He is also a longtime supporter of the Department of Homeland Security’s Nonprofit Security Grant Program which provides financial support for the security of community centers and places of worship for all religious groups.
