Marathon hearing passes series of corrupt Republican legislation

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09), a member of the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee, today condemned a series of Republican bills jammed through the committee during a marathon markup hearing.

“Big Oil bailouts. Big Business cash giveaways. Attacks on efforts to combat climate change. Sabotage of America’s factory-building explosion. Blocking middle class tax relief,” said Congressman Pascrell. “Today the world saw Republicans priorities and they are completely misguided. Amid a booming economy, and armed with some Orwellian bill titles, Republicans want to crush our economic recovery to finance their wealthy tax giveaway. Republicans even blocked my bill for middle class tax help modeled on a partisan Republican plan. It’s beyond parody, and Americans should not be fooled. Democrats seek a tax structure that is fair for everybody; Republicans seek to enact a system that rewards the richest and tells everyone else too bad. What a waste of time.”
