Pascrell Will Vote for Trump Impeachment

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. (D-NJ-09) today issued the following statement on the impending vote in the House of Representatives on the impeachment of Donald Trump.

“I will vote for the impeachment on Donald Trump on both articles. Perhaps the most consequential event of these last few years has been the failure of so many of our nation’s leaders to cast aside narrow ambition and stand against the threat right before us. They have chosen comfort over courage and avarice over republic. This is the ongoing tragedy of our age. Here, finally, the matter is solely in Congress’s hands. The buck has stopped. Because this sacred authority to stop a criminal President for good and all is ours alone.

“Many have invoked the inevitable harsh judgment of history as an antidote of our current danger. Future historians will likely deliver that judgment, but in truth any reliance on the voice of the future is itself a dereliction of responsibility. Because the freedom of our successors to submit that judgment, and other judgments, will depend on what we do now. We need not – we must not – await the verdict of time for Donald Trump’s crimes. We can offer that verdict this week. And we are.”
