PASSAIC COUNTY OPENS FIRST COVID-19 VACCINE MEGA-SITE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE JANUARY 15, 2021

PASSAIC COUNTY OPENS FIRST COVID-19 VACCINE MEGA-SITE

(Passaic County, New Jersey) – Passaic County will open its first mega-site for distributing COVID-19 vaccines beginning on Wednesday, January 20th at the former Modell’s Sporting Goods store located at 1710 Route 46 West in Woodland Park from 9:00AM – 3:00PM.

“As guidelines from the Governor’s Office and the New Jersey Department of Health on administering vaccines rapidly change, Passaic County continues to be the leader in adapting and meeting the needs of our community,” said County Commissioner Director Pat Lepore.

The Passaic County Board of County Commissioners and Passaic County Department of Health Services partnered with Vault to administer the Moderna vaccine beginning December 31, 2020. Phase 1A of the vaccine distributions was expanded and is now available for individuals aged 65 years and older, persons aged 18-64 with underlying medical conditions, police, fire and EMS personnel, and employees of urgent cares, clinics, dialysis centers, dental offices, funeral homes, pharmacies, public health offices, and group homes. Details on vaccination phasing are defined by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) www.cdc.gov.

According to Passaic County Administrator Anthony DeNova, through the generosity of Mandelbaum & Mandelbaum LLC., the County entered into a no-cost lease which will allow the county to expand its COVID-19 response by adding a mega-site location at 1710 Route 46 West in Woodland Park, formerly known as the Modell’s Sporting Goods store.

“It is my pleasure to help residents and the County government distribute vaccines,” stated Michael Mandelbaum. “I am merely doing what people are supposed to do in times of crisis. If we all work together, we can help turn the tide against this terrible pandemic. The idea that something I was involved with could help save lives, is thanks enough.”

To participate, you must register and make an appointment at www.passaiccountynj.org/COVIDvax. The registration portal will open on Saturday, January 16th. The Moderna vaccine requires two injections; those that get vaccinated will have to return for a second appointment approximately 28 days after the first injection. Eligible patients must have their driver’s license (or government-issued ID) and insurance information when registering.

Information on COVID-19, testing, and vaccinations can  be found on Passaic County’s website at passaiccountynj.org/covid19 and on the Facebook page at facebook.com/passaiccountynj.
