PATERSON HISPANIC ORGANIZATION FORMS TO SUPPORT ANDRE SAYEGH FOR MAYOR
PATERSON, NJ—Hispanos Unidos con Sayegh, the community organization that formed independently to support councilman Andre Sayegh for Paterson mayor, praised the sixth ward councilman’s vision for the city’s future, and his potential to unify the many segments of Paterson’s diverse community.
“We have known Andre Sayegh for ten years, and he has always been involved with all of the communities,” Hispanos Unidos Con Sayegh spokesman Rev. Ramon Pagan said. “He has vision, he has accountability, and he can unify the city,” Pagan said.
Hispanos Unidos con Sayegh (The Hispanic Committee for Sayegh) is an organization of more than 300 concerned citizens of Hispanic heritage who are organizing voters across Paterson to support Sayegh’s platform and vision for Paterson. Concerned about public safety, political corruption and economic development and opportunity, the group is also deeply committed to uniting Paterson’s diverse ethnic communities and cultures. Sayegh’s campaign slogan is “One Paterson,” and the group believes he is the candidate who can bring the city together.
Rev. Pagan said Sayegh’s commitment to growing Paterson’s economy, attracting new investment and development, and combating the city’s stubborn crime rate inspired the members of his organization to organize on Sayegh’s behalf.
“We are looking for a mayor who will bring investment to the city, who will maximize our proximity to New York City,” Rev. Pagan said. “We are looking for a mayor who will stabilize property taxes and make our city safer,” Rev. Pagan said.
“The support of Hispanos Unidos Con Sayegh has been a driving force of my campaign, and we would not have come this far without them,” Andre Sayegh said. “I am incredibly grateful for their support and hard work, and I look forward to working with them to build a safer and prosperous city for all of our residents,” Sayegh said.
Paterson’s municipal elections are May 8. Voters will cast ballots for mayor and three at-large council seats.
Andre Sayegh has represented Paterson’s sixth ward since he was first elected to the Paterson City Council in 2008, and previously served on the Paterson Board of Education. For more information about the campaign, visit www.andresayegh.com.
