Pringle: Stop PennEast, Elect an Environmental Advocate
Stockton — Seventh District Congressional Candidate Dave Pringle today attended an anti-PennEast protest this afternoon, joining activists, environmentalists and property owners in fighting the unneeded 120-mile gas pipeline.
“It’s unconscionable that one obscure federal agency can threaten our drinking water, our health and destroy hundreds of acres preserved with taxpayers money,” Pringle said. “It’s just the latest reason why we need an experienced, effective environmental advocate in Washington.”
On Friday the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission granted preliminary approval to the 120-mile pipeline through Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The FERC approval gives the company authority to begin steps to seize private property.
The pipeline has been opposed by every environmental group in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and the New Jersey Rate Counsel as a giveaway to the fossil fuel industry. State agencies have said there is no need for the pipeline.
As a leader of the Clean Water Action, Pringle has been one of the leaders in the fight against PennEast since its inception.
“There should be no seizing of private property just for corporate gain,” Pringle said.
