PROJECT READY TO REGISTER HUNDREDS OF VOTERS AS PART OF NATIONAL VOTER REGISTRATION DAY 2019

Newark-Based Non-Profit Will Also Distribute Bottled Water to Support Neighbors

NEWARK, NJ – On September 24, 2019, Newark-based non-profit Project Ready will take part in National Voter Registration Day – a massive 50-state effort to register voters before Election Day this November. The event will inaugurate Project Ready’s new office and support the Newark community by distributing 1,000 cases of water to residents impacted by the water crisis. Newark Board of Education members Asia Norton, Shayvonne Anderson, and Flohisha Hill will be in attendance.

“Building upon our previous success in signing up more than 1,000 Newark residents to vote by mail, Project Ready is proud to be a part of the National Voter Registration Day effort to strengthen our community by registering hundreds of voters,” said Project Ready Executive Director Shennell McCloud, “We will also supporting our Newark neighbors by providing free bottled water during this time of need. Ultimately, this day of action is about strengthening the power of us as we head towards 2020 and put in the work to mobilize, to work together, and to fight for what all our children deserve — a better future”

The event marks Project Ready’s inaugural event at its new office located at 70 Clinton Avenue in Newark, across from Lincoln Park. The event will take place from noon to 4:00pm.
