Prospect Park Mayor Mohamed Khairullah Condemns Bob Hugin for Deceiving NJ Voters

Republican U.S. Senate nominee Bob Hugin evaded answering whether he supports his jingoistic and Donald Trump loyalist ticket-mate, Republican congressional nominee Seth Grossman after the two recently campaigned together.  

Bob Hugin, yet again, claims he is a ‘different kind’ of Republican while continuing to demonstrate that he will bow to Donald Trump and deceiving New Jersey voters about who he really is. Bob Hugin has been deceitful since he entered the senate race, hoping to reinvent himself after donating thousands of dollars to the likes of Jessie Helms, Mitch McConnell, Paul Ryan, Scott Garrett, and his biggest investment of all, Donald Trump. Time after time, Bob Hugin dances around questions at events, deciding to hide behind his television ads.

The fact is Seth Grossman has a history of spewing inflammatory, racist rhetoric that includes social media posts attacking my faith. As currently the longest-serving Muslim elected official in New Jersey, I am deeply disturbed by Hugin’s reluctance. This is textbook Donald Trump xenophobia. However, that doesn’t seem to sway Bob Hugin enough to disavow him. Nor do the allegations against Kavanaugh seem enough to persuade Hugin to not support him. New Jersey doesn’t need a Trump soldier who will help him enshrine his menacing policies for generations. This is why we need Senator Bob Menendez more than ever as he understands the importance of diversity and inclusion.
