RALLY TO DEFUND HATE DEMANDS CONGRESS CUT FUNDS TO ICE AND CBP

 CLOSING EVENT OF THE NATIONAL WEEK OF ACTION

(HACKENSACK, SEPTEMBER 13) A rally has been called for Friday September 13^th to demand Congress cut the bloated budgets of Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs & Border Patrol (CBP) while establishing treatment and monitoring guardrails for those funds. Locally more than 14 advocacy and grassroots groups are hosting a rally from 6:00-7:00PM on the steps of the Bergen County Court House at 10 Main St, Hackensack, NJ.

“The immigrant community is being terrorized by racist, xenophobic immigration policies. Our government is using our tax dollars to fund hate and cruelty,” according to Indivisible. “They are separating families, ripping children from their parents, and locking human beings in cages for extended time without regard for their health or safety, or established legal limits. Clearly New Jersey values are not being represented so we must speak their language and cut off the money.”

Congress must pass government spending bills before September 30^th to keep the government open. We call on our representatives to include budget cuts to ICE and CBP along with strict guidelines to ensure the funds are not misused as Congress exercises their Constitutional obligation to set the national budget.

Defund ICE! Defund CBP!
