Readout of Call Between Governor Phil Murphy and FirstEnergy President and CEO Chuck Jones
Earlier today, Governor Murphy spoke over the phone with Chuck Jones, President and CEO of FirstEnergy Corp., the parent company of Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L), about power restoration efforts following the recent snow storms in New Jersey. The Governor expressed his strong concerns and frustrations over the lagging response from JCP&L in restoring power quickly to households affected by the two storms. The Governor asked for more resources to help expedite the return of power. CEO Jones assured the Governor that additional workers would be deployed to New Jersey to get customers back on the grid as soon as possible.
The Governor remains committed to pursuing a full assessment and investigation into the storm response by utility companies to examine what went wrong to avoid future significant, long-lasting outages in the state.
