RELEASE – ‘Do as I say, not as I do’ – Linda Greenstein’s policy on equal pay

Hamilton, NJ – Hamilton Councilwoman and State Senate candidate Ileana Schirmer slammed Linda Greenstein for standing by as her county party was accused of wage discrimination. A Middlesex woman is suing her former employer, the Middlesex County Improvement Authority – a body completely controlled by the Middlesex County Democrats – for paying her male counterparts 51% more than she.

“Linda Greenstein’s Middlesex County Democrat Party plays by the rule ‘do as I say, not as I do’,” said Ileana Schirmer. “Greenstein’s party machine grossly underpaid a woman in comparison to her male counterparts. This is inexcusable and unacceptable. Linda Greenstein, if you claim to be an advocate of equal pay for equal work, you must take a stand against wage discrimination in your own backyard by your own colleagues.”

As an entrepreneur and award-winning small business owner, Councilwoman Ileana Schirmer has real experience employing women in both the pharmaceutical and education industry.

“Linda Greenstein claims to be an advocate of equal pay for equal work. But actions speak louder than words. I’ve worked to provide quality-paying jobs to women in fields dominated by men. I’ve written the paychecks that have provided equal pay.”

“Additionally, this incident speaks to the need for an audit of government at every level. Linda Greenstein continually claims that there is little or no waste or abuse in New Jersey government, but her own party’s record shows otherwise. An audit would reveal examples of wage discrimination like this.”
