“The horrific news from Sri Lanka on Easter morning has left me heartbroken, especially since this is a country that has already endured so much in overcoming civil war and dictatorship.”

“To attack people because of their religion and identity is to attack humanity itself.  Across boundaries of geography and faith, houses of worship have always been sanctuaries. No one should be afraid to walk into a church, mosque, temple or synagogue, in Sri Lanka or anywhere in the world.

“As we continue to learn more about why and how this massacre occurred, know that America stands with the Sri Lankan people against terrorism and intolerance in all its forms. “
