Rep. Sherrill Votes to Support the Dreamers; TPS and DED Recipients

Washington, DC — Today, Representative Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) voted to support Dreamers and eligible individuals in the Temporary Protected Status (TSP) program and the Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) program by voting in favor of H.R.6, the American Dream and Promise Act of 2019. Representative Sherrill is a co-sponsor of H.R. 6.

“The thousands of Dreamers in New Jersey are American in every way except on paper. Dreamers, as well as TPS and DED recipients who have lived in the United States for decades, should not live in fear because Congress refuses to take action,” said Representative Sherrill. “The American Dream and Promise Act addresses the uncertainty created by our broken immigration system, and is a crucial first step toward comprehensive reform.”

The American Dream and Promise Act of 2019 provides an earned path to permanent residence for Dreamers and eligible individuals under TPS and DED. The estimated annual federal tax contributions of Dreamers and eligible TPS/DED recipients in New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District is $56,468,000.
