Representative Malinowski and House Delegation to Visit Gateway Tunnel Project

Congressman Malinowski, Chair of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Peter DeFazio (D-OR), and a delegation of House members will participate in a tour of the Gateway Tunnel Project and a roundtable discussion on Thursday, May 2, and Friday, May 3, 2019.

Since being sworn in Congressman Malinowski has made the Gateway Project a top priority. His first bill, the Transportation Funding Fairness Act (TFFA) allows states to attribute federal transportation loans towards their share of jointly funded large-scale infrastructure projects, which the Department of Transportation has inexplicably refused to do for the Gateway Project.

In April Congressman Malinowski led a group of over twenty of his northeastern colleagues in calling on Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Secretary Elaine Chao to finalize and publish the Hudson Tunnel Project Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), which would finally allow the project to move forward.

“There is no debate about the need for Gateway — the economy of New Jersey and the northeastern United States depends on maintaining and improving the region’s most indispensable transportation link. I look forward to touring the Gateway Project with Chairman DeFazio and other House members to shine a spotlight on how dire the situation is.”
