Roselle Board of Education President Demands Resignation of Board Members for Endangering Student Safety
ROSELLE, NJ — Board of Education President Patricia Fabrizio is calling for the immediate resignation of two board members who have endangered the lives of district children by transporting them to and from a private day care center they are each involved in without possessing the proper school bus driver license or having their vehicles properly inspected, among other offenses. Board members Angela Alvey-Wimbush and Jonathan Davis are being asked to step down because of their involvement in Alvey Education Never Ends Programs, a day care center located in Linden and owned by Alvey-Wimbush who employs fellow board member Davis as a driver for the business. Both Alvey-Wimbush and Davis have received numerous citations recently from the Roselle Police Department for driving offenses including:
– Non-compliance with required Special Bus Driver license
– Driving or parking an unregistered motor vehicle
– Failure to have vehicle inspected
– Failure to make available records at time of inspection
– Failure to make a School Bus available for inspection
(Copies of incident reports acquired by OPRA request are attached)
“I find it absolutely shocking that elected members of our Board of Education would knowingly endanger our children by personally transporting them without the proper license and in vehicles that have not been inspected,” said Board President Fabrizio. “Many working parents rely on private day care centers like this one and it is sickening to see Board members Alvey-Wimbush and Davis betray the trust that has been placed in them by putting their children in harm’s way. Both of them must resign in order to show our community that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated.”
