ROSELLE, NJ) Calling for a new generation of leadership for Roselle, the Roselle Democratic Committee launched their campaign today to elect Donald Shaw for Mayor, Janna Williams for Council at Large, and Brandis Puryear for 4^th Ward Councilwoman.

“Today, we launch a campaign to move our community forward and start addressing the day-to-day challenges we all face,” declared Shaw. “I’m not interested in longstanding political bickering between politicians. Along with Janna and Brandis,I’m focused on achieving real results for Roselle residents – our safety, strengthening of infrastructure and expansion ofcommunity programs.”

Donald Shaw is the Recreation Leader for Roselle, and as Mayor will continue to prioritize safe and dynamic recreation opportunities for residents in Roselle.  “Recreation is such an important and tangible link between residents and our local government. I’ve enjoyed managing this key department for the Borough – one that has the capacity to unite residents throughout our community. As I take these next steps to run for Mayor, I look forward to continued engagement with voters directly so we can develop ideas and address concerns,” Shaw said.  “Challenges faced today are often directly rooted in decisions made long ago. However, I believe that fresh leadership coupled with our unique backgrounds will refocus our government here in Roselle and ensure that it works for all Roselleans.”

Janna Williams USAF- Ret. is a working mom and former member of the Roselle Board of Education. She currently serves as the Accredited Veteran Service Officer for Union County.  “As a veteran and a working mom, I have a strict ‘no nonsense’ rule in my house, and that’s what we need in Roselle,” said Williams. “I will make sure voters get the facts they need and that their requests for help get answered,” stated Williams.  “The residents and neighbors I speak with are often frustrated by a lack of responsiveness from government officials.  With Donald as Mayor, and Brandis and myself on council, we will make sure that those voices and concerns are our top priority.”

Brandis Puryear is a Detective in the Irvington Police Department, and a community organizer in Roselle. The mother of an active 11-year-old, she’s active with Pop Warner and the Roselle Rams Traveling Basketball Program. “I’m running for Council because I have lived in Roselle for nearly forty years, and I love my community. We deserve elected officials who are sincere, transparent, and effectively collaborative,” declared Puryear.  “My law enforcement experience influences me as much as my drive for a healthy community for our families and children. Those are my priorities.”
