DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATES TO RUN FOR COUNCIL
ROSELLE, NEW JERSEY— The Roselle Democratic Committee with representation from all 5 Wards with the Municipal Chairman Rev. Reginald Atkins and Assemblyman Jamel Holley (D-Roselle) announced the endorsement of 2nd Ward Councilwoman Carla Walker and 5th Ward Councilman Samuel Bishop in the upcoming June primary election.
“These council representatives are making solid progress on everything from stabilizing property taxes to improving public safety to making our Borough a destination place,” said Assemblyman Holley. “I am proud to support Carla Walker and Samuel Bishop for Council because I know they have our community’s best interests at heart and they will continue moving Roselle forward.”
Councilwoman Carla Walker was re-elected to the Borough Council to represent the 2nd Ward in 2015 following in the footsteps of her mother, former Councilwoman Hazel Walker. On the Council she has been an strong advocate for public safety, youth recreation programs and public park improvements, among many other priorities. Carla has been a lifelong resident educated through Roselle Education system.
Councilman Samuel Bishop was re-elected to the Borough Council in 2015 to serve the 5th Ward and has been known as a champion of progress and has been a very present voice in the push for education reform within the Borough. Councilman Samuel Bishop is a Personal Preference Consultant and has experience managing budgets and employees that’s been an asset on the Council. Samuel and his wife, Gina has been Roselle home owners for nearly 22 years.
“Carla Walker and Samuel Bishop both share our vision for a safe, affordable and active Roselle community and I am excited to work with them towards those goals as our residents deserve public servants whose sole focus is to only work for our residents’ interests,” said Councilman Atkins. “Our borough needs more elected officials who will put the residents’ needs first and listen to what the community is telling us and I know that both Carla and Sam can be counted on to do that.”
