SCUTARI TO UNVEIL LEGISLATION TO LEGALIZE RECREATIONAL MARIJUANA IN NJ

TRENTON – Senate Judiciary Chairman Nicholas P. Scutari will hold a news conference to announce new legislation he will introduce today to legalize, regulate and tax recreational marijuana in New Jersey.

The news conference will be held at 12:00 PM, TODAY, Monday, May 15, 2017, in Room 103, of the Statehouse, Trenton, New Jersey.

Senator Scutari is a leading expert on the issue of marijuana policy in New Jersey. He sponsored the “New Jersey Compassionate Use Medical Marijuana Act,” the law that created the state’s medical marijuana program. For more than three years, he has studied and researched the issue of legalizing recreational marijuana in New Jersey. Senator Scutari led a legislative delegation to Colorado in October to examine that state’s recreational marijuana program, where lawmakers met with officials from the Colorado Governor’s Office, the state’s Marijuana Enforcement Division, state and local elected officials and experts in the field. They also toured cultivation, production and retail facilities in the City of Denver.
