Select Committee on Economic Growth Strategies to Hold Hearing

The Senate Select Committee on Economic Growth Strategies Meeting will hold its first meeting on July 29. Chaired by Senator Bob Smith, the committee was formed in response to the NJEDA tax incentive controversy and subsequent establishment of Governor Phil Murphy’s task force.

 

Trenton – The special Senate committee established to review the state’s tax incentive programs and make recommendations on the best strategies for utilizing incentives to promote economic growth will hold its third hearing on Monday.

The bipartisan Senate Select Committee on Economic Growth Strategies will meet at 12:00 noon, Monday, September 23, in Committee Room 4 of the State House Annex to hear from businesses, organizations and community groups that have participated in or impacted by the incentive programs.

The participants in the hearing will be:

  • Tom Doll – President and Chief Executive Officer, Subaru of America, Inc.
  • Susan Story – President and CEO, American Water Works
  • Don Katz – Founder and CEO, Audible, Inc.
  • Chris Paladino – President, New Brunswick and Atlantic City Development Corporations
  • Mike Kerwin – President and CEO, Somerset Business Partnership
  • Edgar Laborde – Deputy Political Director, Retail, Wholesale & Department Store Union
  • Megan Chambers – Co-Manager, Laundry, Distribution and Food Service Joint Board, Workers United, SEIU
  • Richard Smith – President, New Jersey State Conference of the NAACP
  • Dana Redd – Former Mayor of Camden/CEO, Rowan University/Rutgers–Camden Board of Governors
  • Jon Young – Camden County Freeholder
  • Scott Thompson – Former Camden County Chief of Police
  • Brian Morton – Founder and Executive Director, Parents for Great Camden Schools; President, North Camden Little League

The committee will issue its findings and recommendations addressing the state’s economic development policies after the completion of its hearings.
