Senator Codey Statement on Treasurer Letter
TRENTON – Senator Richard J. Codey today issued the following statement in response to the letter sent by state Treasurer Ford Scudder to thousands of teachers across the state regarding their health benefits and offers made to leadership of the New Jersey Education Association:
“Once again, the Christie Administration is using public dollars to carry out a political feud. The Treasurer’s letter to teachers was an appalling misuse of taxpayer funds used as a hammer in the governor’s longstanding battle with the NJEA. Not surprising, the administration did not present all of the facts about what was offered during these negotiations.
“This is a shameful expenditure of taxpayer resources used to attack the NJEA, made worse by the fact that it was a disingenuous characterization of the issue. The residents of the state – and the teachers – deserve better than this kind of conduct. Sadly, this is what we have grown to expect from the Christie Administration.”
