TRENTON – Following Governor Sherrill's signing of the FY 2027 budget into law, Senator Angela V. McKnight released the following statement:
“This year’s state budget is a comprehensive plan that puts New Jersey on a stronger path toward the future. I am grateful for the dedication of the Legislature, Governor Sherrill, and members of our communities who worked tirelessly throughout this process to craft a spending plan that improves the lives of all our residents, from our youngest children to our seniors. They are at the heart of our work, and I believe we have developed a balanced budget that puts their needs first.
“Record investments in Stay NJ and ANCHOR, along with an expanded Child Tax Credit, will help families manage rising costs, whether they are just starting out or enjoying their golden years. The SPARK and NJ4S programs will provide critical resources to address our youth mental health crisis, giving parents, educators, and, most importantly, our children the tools they need to thrive. I am also especially grateful for the state aid allocated to Jersey City, which will help protect working families and ensure our city is not left behind as we strengthen the financial future of the economic engine of our state.
“This budget also expands support for victims of domestic violence, invests in housing for our veterans, and delivers a full pension payment for our public workers. Together, these investments reflect our commitment to those who have served our communities and those who need our support most.
“While there is always more work to do, this budget demonstrates our shared commitment to putting people first and ensuring every New Jerseyan has the opportunity to succeed.”
