Senator Weinberg Statement on Passing of Former DOT Commissioner Jamie Fox
TRENTON – Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg issued the following statement today on the passing of Jamie Fox, who served in the administrations of several New Jersey governors, most recently as Transportation Commissioner in the administration of Governor Chris Christie:
“Jamie Fox was my friend for almost 40 years, like a political son – we were always there for each other. I watched him grow up in politics to become a man to whom many of our leading elected officials turned to for advice, counsel, and understanding.
“He loved policy and the game of politics, understood government better than most and was a loyal and true friend. He transversed ‘both sides of the aisle’ with ease because so many people loved and respected him for his brilliance and ability to always laugh at the ironies of life.
“Jamie’s sense of humor stood him in good stead during these last couple of years of health and other issues. We talked and laughed often, and sometimes cried together (I guess mostly me). I treasured him as a person, as a brilliant political leader, but most of all as my dear friend. And yes I will miss him in my daily life.”
