Sheriff Anthony Cureton Addresses California Synagogue Shooting
Sheriff Anthony Cureton Addresses California Synagogue Shooting –
Denounces Hate; Increases Patrol Around Houses of Worship for Last Night of Passover
Hackensack, N.J. – I am deeply disturbed and saddened by the Synagogue attacks this morning in Poway, CA which took the life of one person and injured others while observing Passover, one of the holiest holidays of the Jewish faith. These acts of intolerance and hate must stop.
While there is no specific or credible threat at this time, the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office is working cooperatively with local law enforcement to provide increased patrols to houses of worship across Bergen County for the last night of Passover.
The safety and security of all Bergen County residents is of the utmost importance. Bergen County must continue to be a welcoming place for everyone and that starts with making sure residents feel safe practicing their respective creeds and faiths during high holy days. Hate, racism, and bigotry has no home here in Bergen County and the BCSO will continue to work to keep all our families, friends, and loved ones safe.
