Sierra Club Stands With Labor

Communication Workers of America (CWA) are holding a rally in front of the statehouse with hundreds of people behind them. CWA NJ members are asking for a fair state budget that includes a millionaire’s tax, funding their pension,  protecting their healthcare, protecting critical state services, and ending corporate welfare. Jeff Tittel, Director of the New Jersey Sierra Club released the following statement:

“Sierra Club stands in support of workers that are protesting in front of the statehouse. We are not only a sponsor of the rally, but many of our members are here with you and support you. Sierra Club is the only unionized environmental group in the country and only environmental group that pays $15 min wage. We stand together with our union brothers and sisters. Sierra Club supports collective bargaining and the right for workers organizing.

“We are here even if we are not speaking. Our voice is your voice. Sierra Club is committed to the rights of workers and social equity. I was honored to speak at the rally with you in 2011, 2012, and 2014. Unfortunately, we are going through the same battle all over again. Our members are here with you standing in support of your struggle. Your fight is our fight in solidarity.”
