Singleton Questions Administration’s Proposal to Cut $33 Million from Firefighters Fund

Trenton – The following is a statement by Senator Troy Singleton (D-Burlington) regarding Governor Murphy’s proposal to cut $33 million from the New Jersey State Firefighters Association:

“Our first responders are the unsung heroes who are there for us – no questions asked – in our times of need. Taking $33 million from a fund that is designed to provide financial assistance to our firefighters in their times of need should not be a consideration.

“I sought to have a better understanding of this issue when the Commissioner of the Department of Banking and Insurance testified before the Senate Budget Committee, and I will again seek an explanation from the Administration when the Treasurer comes before our committee next week.”

Here is a link to the Senator’s line of questioning during the Department of Banking and Insurance Budget Hearing last week. The Senator’s questioning begins at 16:01
