Somerset County Democratic Committee Black Caucus Statement on Candidacy of Sue Altman for 12 District Congresswoman

Franklin Twp, NJ (Feb 3, 2026) - Somerset County Democratic Committee Black Caucus released a statement after 7th District resident Sue Altman announced her intention to seek the nomination for Congressmember from the 12th District:

Sue Altman regularly described herself as "a proud daughter of New Jersey's 7th Congressional District" when she ran there two years ago. Her decision to enter the race for the 12th District is disrespectful to the people of the 12th and appears to be born out of political convenience rather than a true desire to represent a district in which she does not live. The people of the 12th District deserve a leader who has worked for their interests, understands their needs, and desires, and has a history of standing up for them. Shanel Robinson is that leader.
