Somerset County Democrats Chair Statement on NJ Senate Primary

When Tammy Murphy first told me she was going to throw her hat in the ring for US Senate I was thrilled. Tammy has not only been a good friend to me over the years, but to the Somerset County Democratic Party. I was excited to support her, and to encourage others to do the same.

Sadly, Tammy has decided to suspend her campaign and asked me to give the Somerset County Democrats’ support to Representative Andy Kim. I reached out to Andy, who has accepted our support, the use of our slogan, and bracketing with our candidates in the primary election.

Over the years, I have known Tammy as a strong, committed, talented woman who has earned my respect and support.

Nothing has changed with her announcement.

I know she will always be true to her strong belief in family, loyalty, and honor.

She will also forever have my friendship and respect.

In the coming year, we will work together to ensure that the Democratic Party continues to best represent the citizens of New Jersey.

One opportunity has passed. So many more lie ahead.

I wish only the best to Tammy, Phil, and their family and look forward to supporting Congressman Kim for the U.S. Senate.
