Somerset County Maintains Highest Possible “AAA” Bond Rating from Moody’s Ratings
County has Maintained AAA Rating for Over 30 Years

(For Immediate Release – Somerset County, NJ): The Somerset County Board of County Commissioners is proud to announce that Moody’s Ratings have affirmed Somerset County’s Aaa bond rating, the highest possible rating awarded by the agency.

The rating was issued in connection the County’s 2026 bond issuance and reflects the confidence in Somerset County’s strong administration and financial management, responsible long-term strategic planning, and strong economic base.

“The Somerset County Board of County Commissioners have always prioritized maintaining stable County operations while investing in critical infrastructure, public facilities, and protecting other essential county services that our residents need. This rating demonstrates that we are consistently prioritizing fiscally responsible governance,” said Commissioner Director Shanel Y. Robinson. “We remain committed to delivering services to residents where they are while making smart financial decisions throughout our diverse communities.”

The Aaa Bond Rating reflects the expectations that the County’s very strong local economy and financial reserves will remain stable and healthy in the near-term.

Somerset County has maintained this vital bond rating for over 30 years which has allowed the County to secure lower borrowing costs and more favorable financing terms which helps reduce long term expenses for taxpayers.
