Speaker Coughlin Statement on Fiscal Year 2020 Budget

(TRENTON) – Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin (D-Middlesex) issued the following statement on the passage of the Legislative Democrats’ Fiscal Year 2020 budget:

“I am proud of the budget passed today in the Legislature. This budget funds middle class priorities, provides property tax relief for our most vulnerable citizens, and includes many of the funding priorities in the Governor’s proposed budget.

“The Legislature’s focus remains on keeping our state on a path to restoring our economy. I remain mindful of adequately funding the state’s priorities in a fiscally sound manner and will work to provide resources to middle and working class families. Providing funding for seniors, veterans, higher education, community colleges, and NJ Transit is of critical importance. In the upcoming days, I anticipate the signing of a budget balanced through spending cuts, government efficiencies, and structural reform and thank the members of my caucus for their support throughout this process.”
